1 Farrukh Shaida   A crushing victory for the new-look 2nds, making a team that wasn't that bad look very very ordinary in the process. Superb performance all-round, apart from Cleggy's nervous spell when he looked onto the other pitch to see 20 players better than him. The defence was solid as a rock, with Boz outstanding, while the midfield of Smithy and Right Said Fred created chance after chance. However, this was Tommy C's day, with a performance of all-round brilliance. He set up goals for Gav, Coops and Dix, harried their defence all game, and grabbed three himself, to take the lead in the race for the Golden Boot, which he will win, unless Vini gets dropped, which may well happen. Wogan added another, and they got grumpy cos we tanked them.

1 Farrukh Shaida   Another crushing win for the Comics, as like last week a poor start was followed by a brutally efficient performance. Blazin' Squad turned up ready to avenge last year's beatings and red cards, and started brightly, but the back four held strong with few worries. Tommy missed an open goal and the Comics were not really creating much, but finally Coops smashed home a cross from Antny, and then headed home just before half-time after Gav's shot had rattled the crossbar. The second half was a lot better, and Scotty and Fabio both notched from pin-point Coops deliveries. Bainsy added two more and should have had a hat-trick after coming on at half-time, showing the sheer strength of our squad. Farrukh had little to do, bar one great save, and their goal with the last kick of the game was nothing but an annoying consolation. A big game at Kings beckons, and if we can win that one, a very successful season surely beckons.

1 Farrukh Shaida   The spoils were shared against the old enemy, just like in preseason. Any chance of playing good football was ruined by the small pitch and windy conditions, and the Comics were up against it in the first half going into the breeze against a strong Kings side. Dix and Bainsy both could and should have scored, but the Comics were not playing well and came under a lot of pressure as Kings hoofed it to their fat mess up front. Blundo was colossal on his return, but Kings took the lead shortly before half-time with a well struck goal. Coops changed tactics at half-time, bringing on Dave Taylor and going 3-5-2. Following a short delay as the stewards picked up the toys that had fallen out of Scotty's pram, the Comics equalised as Fabio's free-kick was headed home by Taylor after Coops had knocked the keeper over with his love handle. A fair result really.

1 Farrukh Shaida   Back to winning ways for the Comics, as they gave the police team the sort of going over they used to dish out pre-McPherson. O'Hara made his seasonal bow, and was in inspired form, no surprise considering his vast experience of fighting policemen. Coops opened the scoring early with a stunning 2-yard volley following Scotty's flick, and then Dix added a dubious second that looked like an own goal to everyone else. Bainsy added a third before half-time from Fabio's cross and a rout looked on. However, the ref was an informer, and proceeded to give some ridiculous offside decisions, and book Rikos for trying to free Han Solo from his bronze coffin. Bainsy added a fourth in the second half, in front of his bird, who seemed happier talking to Kinder and Dix. "Too good for him", was the post-match verdict...

1 Farrukh Shaida   The Comics slipped to their first defeat of the season against an excellent SAL side in the cup. On a horrendous day of heavy rain and hailstones, it was always going to be tough against a very strong side, but the task was made harder as Boz was abducted by aliens on the way to the match. I hope the anal probe he suffered on the mothership was long and painful. With only 10 men, the Comics battled hard, but the home side were streets ahead, and we had no match for their movement up front. Coops scored a free-kick to make it 1-1 midway through the first half, and Bainsy battled hard up front on his own, but being honest with 11 men playing well it would've been a tough task, so with 10 not playing their best it was truly impossible. A bad result, but not a shameful one.

1 Farrukh Shaida   A much better display in the cup this week, as the Comics humbled a decent team from a higher division, and fully deserved the 1-0 win. Some cracking football was on show despite the torrential rain and narrow pitch, but it was always tight and was goal-less at half-time. The Comics should've taken the lead on the hour mark but Mrs Sitters, aka the least popular Ferreira brother, spurned a golden chance with the goal gaping. Then when Mr Universe limped off injured to leave us with 10 again (clearly not having worked on building up his backbone), the boys looked doomed, but Mrs Sitters found the net with a weak dribbler to break his goal drought. Some heroic defending followed, with man-of-the-match Farrukh making three outstanding saves to seal the win, with the oppo sportingly declaring afterwards that we "were shit".

1 Farrukh Shaida   A fine win for the Comics, defeating an unbeaten Clapham side far more comfortably than the scoreline suggested. Despite a reshuffled defence including Coops and G as 'fool-backs', Clapham's talented strikers rarely threatened, and Farrukh had little to do except for a couple of fine saves. The Comics surged forward on a regular basis and played some good football, but didn't really create too many clear-cut chances. Bainsy went close a couple of times in front of his family, who were videotaping his efforts for Mandy Dingle to have a look at, but it began to look like a goal would never arrive. But, cometh the hour, cometh the mong, as with ten minutes left Dix burst through one challenge, cut inside another, and finished calmly to the delight of the biggest-ever crowd (7). The game was wrapped up in the dying minute when Tommy was bundled over in the box. The refereeing weasel blew the whistle with all the power of his little lungs, and following the muffled peep, Tommy slotted home to seal the points.

1 Farrukh Shaida   A makeshift Comics side crushed a very poor Fulham Compton side with ease, despite such handicaps as a debutant right-back, Coops at centre-back and fatboy Freeman coming out of retirement to patrol the centre circle. Will had an excellent game, while Coops was Bobby Moore-esque at the back, and with Blundo imperious alongside him, it was always going to be nil. Some cracking goals were scored by Tommy and Bainsy, as we went 4-0 up after only 20 minutes, Bainsy's cracking volley being the pick of the bunch. The game became rather subdued after the stunning start, and the Comics probably should've scored more, but on a day when defeat could have been very likely, this was a very satisfying result.

1 Tobi Julen   Like all great teams, the Comics IIs treat the cup with disdain, and so chose to take the field against the old enemy with a scratch team, including three guys not wanted by the IVs. Amazingly we took the lead, despite only having ten men at the time, when Tommy slotted home well after chasing a long punt from Coops. However, a solid Kings team was always going to trouble this side, and they led 2-1 at half-time due to some sloppy mistakes at the back. 3-1 was the final score, but it was a superb performance by all concerned. The Brennans belied their combined 87 years to hold their own, while many regulars had fine games and stepped up to take responsibility in the absence of others. Once the stars return, look out as this team will be going a long way...

1 Farrukh Shaida   So much to cover. Fabio's great goal, Scotty's imperious performance, a promising debut from Liam. Another supposedly good team from a higher division utterly overmatched in every department - skill, strength, brains, salary, looks - I could go on. They were horrible cheats, as if you should expect anything else of a team who played in a Burberry kit, and it predictably turned nasty once they knew they were done. One odious blimp saw red for bravely slapping poor Bainsy, despite the little fella being but the same size as his beergut, while another Essex chav chased Rikos round the pitch for a good 30 seconds until he realised that he was so fat the only thing he'd catch would be crabs of his munting wife swap calibre bird, and if he tried to kick Rikos, if his ability on the ball was any guide, he'd have missed. It takes a brave team to escape from Middle Earth unscathed, but this is no ordinary team.

1 Will Eide   Old Belgravians maintained their 100% record by inflicting a first league defeat on the Comics. They were a good side, the strongest we've faced in the league, but in truth they were very beatable, and we conceded some very poor goals - naive defending, lapses in concentration and a willingness for people to take responsibility at set pieces all contributed. No one played particularly badly, but we were always chasing the game and every time we looked like getting on top we would concede another sloppy goal to lose momentum.

There were some bright spots - G had a fine game in midfield, Tommy scored for the fifth match in a row, and Blundo almost scored the goal of the season - but this was a very deflating performance, and means we cannot afford to slip up again if we want to win the league.

1 Farrukh Shaida   What a game! 3-1 down at half-time due to mistakes and the ref being a buffoon, the Comics rolled up their sleeves to reveal sharp elbows, and channeled the aggression into a dominating second-half performance, as some young lads got taught lessons in football, violence and banter, highlight being Fabio asking a certain midget if his Mum had smoked during pregnancy. Tommy got a great hat-trick, while Dave "Andrew Ridgeley" Bains squandered plenty. And then it was off to the Sitar, Chuckle Club and After-Skool club for much booze. The evening was slightly soured when social sec Scotty incorrectly invoiced G for half a Keema Naan, when he had actually had a third of a Peshwari Naan, causing a hole in the accounts, which will now need to be restated. Or, as they say in Germany, "Vot is titwank?"

1 Farrukh Shaida   The Comics finished 2004 with a facile win to keep up the title charge. Last week's gaiety led to full attendance way before kick-off and a proper warm-up, and so it was that rather than being an early goal down as usual, the Comics took an early lead when Scotty headed home Tommy's cross. Coops doubled the lead on the half-hour with a cool finish from Fabio's slide rule pass, and then Boz got his first of the season (perhaps ever?) when he finished off a flowing move. 3-0 at the half, further scoring came from G and Bainsy. G's goal was a 35-yarder with his left foot, which sounds good but wasn't. Reigatians scored a couple of late consolation goals to take the shine off the performance, but in all it was a very satisfactory effort. Oh yeah, and don't try internet dating...

1 Farrukh Shaida   If the seconds go on to achieve anything this season, this game will prove to have been crucial. A combination of strong winds and a much-improved Fulham Compton side made this a tough game, and the Comics scraped home with the help of a bit of good fortune. Despite being on top for most of the first half, we went in one down when a wind-assisted shot escape Farrukh's grasp. It had all the makings of just being 'one of those days', as Coops hit the bar and missed a couple of other good chances, but the skipper finally bounced one in off the keeper to level matters. Wave after wave of attacks followed before Kinder's fine cross was headed home by Tommy in the last minute. We had time to give them a one on one, and for Kinder to turn from hero to villain by giving away a penalty after a mix-up with promising debutant Simon. Thankfully Farrukh turned from villain to hero, easily saving the kick from their big bottler of a striker. Job done...just.

1 Sid   On the face of it a terrible result against a team from the league below, but in all honestly this was one of the strongest sides we'd faced all year, and the performance itself wasn't that bad. However, with Scotty and Tommy unusually quiet, Dix suffering from whatever STD Cleggy and Gazza both have, and Coops out injured, defeat always beckoned against a very competitive and talented side. Fabio shone like a bald beacon and put in a stunning performance, but we lacked a bit of quality elsewhere and missed the few chances we created. The day was marred by injuries to Tommy and G who both had to come off - with G doing his best John Rambo impressions by replacing his kneecap himself after dislocating it, unlike that big crybaby Vini on the same ground a few years back. Ah well, time to concentrate on the league...

1 Farrukh Shaida   Big, big win. Kings thought they just had to turn up after their cracking recent run, but saw a resilient Comics team outmatch them in every department. 12 heroes, though notable mentions for Scotty and Tommy more than making up for their quiet games in the cup, and Wogan imperious on his return after a long time out. Even Dix managed to run at times and look close to his former glories. But everyone worked hard and gave their all, and this was the result. Two poacher's goals from Tommy and a great finish from Boz made it easy, and their last-minute consolation - a quality strike - was treated with anger, which shows the great attitude in the team. Kings are a quality side, and yet they landed more flying elbows than shots on target, and were too bitter at their thumping to swallow the humble pie we offered them. Ha ha ha. The league is there for the taking...one game at a time...

1 Farrukh Shaida   An easy win for the Comics, although this was perhaps the worst performance of the season, as we were dragged down to the level of what is indisputably a bad side. Too many players going through the motions, hungover, or still drunk, and any half-decent side would've taken advantage of us. The defence was very solid to be fair, but there was no cohesion in midfield, the final ball was poor and we lacked composure in front of goal, and so a good chance to boost the goal difference was missed.

Vini was too ashamed to claim the first, as his cross/shot was thrown in by the keeper. Coops finished calmly from Dix's pass just before half-time for the second, while Kinder tapped in late on after Vini's shot was parried. Still, a win's a win, nine more to go.

1 Farrukh Shaida   A bad result. Yes it was a bobbly pitch, and yes they were a solid enough side who knew how to hold onto a lead, but this still should have been a comfortable win. We were all over them, they only had one shot and we had million corners and chances, but it was just one of those days. There were a few highlights. A long train journey packed with Coops' dating sexploits and the worst, longest joke in history from Simon Wilson, and some startlingly accurate look-a-likes:

Boz - Mr Mackey from South Park
Rikos - Don Johnson in Miami Vice
Coops - Jamie Oliver
Kinder - Rik Waller
Tommy - Danny Moon from Eastenders
Bainsy - Dane Bowers/Anthony Costa from Blue
Scotty - Jamie Redknapp (only he thinks it tho)

1 Farrukh Shaida   A fine win for the Comics to get back on track after last week's loss. Dwain notched the first and deserved more from his terrific effort, but this was a day for answering critics, with goals from the much-maligned Rikos and Dix, and two great goals from young Bainsy. Gaz had a fine game, everyone worked really hard, and Fabio landed a ball on the moon. And then it was time for Burger King and onto Boom Bar to meet Scotty's team of birds, who all looked like Hale End IIs. Coops used the "Captain's Law" to ring-fence the only worthwhile one - the only one not brought by Scotty - and even had Dix subbed from chatting to her just as though it was a game. The Vinophile allegedly snogged two adult birds but no one saw, Coops danced like an Uncle at a wedding, and Clapham Grand saw Dix break-dancing and G having a fight for a change.

1 Farrukh Shaida   This was a recipe for disaster. New formation, three third-teamers, urinating and changing by the pitch because the dressing room was locked, and the match being reffed by their manager. However, this sort of situation brings the best out of the Comics, who love nothing more than a pikey victory. We bossed the first half but could not score, with their emergency keeper in inspired form, and it looked like another Dorking when they got a penalty. Farukh rescued us with a fine save, and a minute later we were in front when Steffen nodded home Coops' corner. We hung on grimly, with the back three excellent, and Si Wilson having a fine game in midfield (though he may want to avoid fighting the candyman next time). Three points, job done, and Bainsy celebrated in fine style by puking up in the Slug and Lettuce and being thrown out of Ministry.

1 Farrukh Shaida   Exactly one month ago we went to Dorking, murdered them, and got beat. Revenge is a dish best served on a baking hot day, and the woeful oppo were crushed by a ruthless, flawless Comics side. Outstanding performances all round, solid in defence, busy in midfield, lively up front. Their fat Alan Smith never got a kick, their keeper got a bad back, and their right back got a lesson in wing play from Coops and his new white boots. Twice they were forced into own goals from teasing crosses, and the time they left it to us Dave Taylor smashed home. In between all this Dev capped a fine performance by heading home from Bainsy's corner, and in the second half the wee fella got on the scoresheet himself, as did Coops from Tommy's fine pass. With this glut of goals, four wins out of five should mean silverware for the seconds.

1 Farrukh Shaida   It all started so well. We were playing great, and Graham bundled a goal in early on, but from the moment Dave Taylor went off injured, forcing a change of formation, we seemed to lose our way. Farrukh's error put them level, and although we went ahead again through an own goal, and had a blatant penalty turned down by the buffoon of a ref, to be honest we were second best for most of the game and probably deserved to lose to a very strong Belgravians side. Still, four games left, and four wins should mean a title. We will need to play better than this though.

1 Sid   It didn't bode well. They looked very keen and up for it, we didn't, and when the wind blew in a corner early on the signs weren't good. However, then the Comics put in a great half of football, creating numerous chances into the wind, and went ahead with a great finish from Tommy and another typical goal from Boz (or Booze as he should probably be known). But just when it looked like we would go on and crush them, Gramms equalised on the stroke of half-time. In truth we were pretty poor in the second half, and they certainly looked brighter and more likely to win. But we defended doggedly, and with 15 minutes to go, cometh the hour, cometh the man etc, as Coops turned on a sixpence and chipped the keeper to bring home the bacon. I cannot recall who got the assist. A rude goal for the outside of Fabio's left foot in the last minute made it safe and boosted the goal difference, keeping our title dreams alive.

1 Farrukh Shaida   Goals were what was required, and while there should've been more than six, there were mitigating circumstances - three new players, third team call-ups, players out of position, ropey pitch, and the sheer altruism of certain snakes in front of goal.

Stelios scored four on his debut...which will do I suppose. Coops added two more, and the solid defence restricted them to only a couple of chances, which Farrukh kept out well.

Tempers were frayed throughout due to the urgency of the situation, Coops' period and TP rage, and Boz's pining for the absent Fagio. Luckily Kaspar kept spirits up with his good-humoured ways.

1 Farrukh Shaida   An easy win for the Comics, but with Kings thrashing Blazin' Squad twice unbelievably it may not be enough. Still, let's not detract from this performance. Some great goals, including a fine strike from the snake, some top finishing from Vini and a ball-popper from the pinheaded one. One game left, and a win seals promotion and then it'll come down to goal difference.

1 Farrukh Shaida   The season ended in the worst possible way, as not only did the goals not come, a draw also means third spot in all certainty. Amid what was a very good season, this game summed up everything bad about it - three new faces, we dominated the first half but only had one goal to show for it due to some poor finishing, some bad decision-making and not getting the run of the ball. The oppo are unquestionably a decent side and so it was no great surprise when they finally drew level, but in reality we should have been three or four up by then. Relentless pressure followed but the goal that would at least secure promotion would not come. Rikos blacked out, which was initially scary, but looking back it was hysterical. Actually it was pretty funny at the time. In the dying seconds, Bainsy's great cross evaded the keeper but Coops headed wide from inside the six-yard box with the goal gaping - a truly shocking miss, which summed up the day. Next year...
